FCm scoops award for Europe’s top travel management company again

FCm has won the illustrious WTA award for the second time in three years.

FCm Travel Solutions has been named Europe’s Leading Travel Management Company in the 2010 World Travel Awards, arguably the most prestigious and comprehensive awards programme in the global travel and tourism industry.

This is the second time FCm has scooped such an impressive accolade having won the same category in the 2008 World Travel Awards.

Described by The Wall Street Journal as the ‘Oscars’ of the travel industry, the World Travel Awards aim to separate the good from the outstanding, and identify companies that consistently excel beyond expectation. This year a phenomenal 185,000 industry professionals from the travel, tourism and hospitality sectors participated in the voting process.

FCm Travel Solutions regional director EMEA Brian Donnelly, said: “To be voted the leading travel management company in Europe for a second time in the World Travel Awards is a tremendous achievement. We are extremely proud to have won this award as it acknowledges our reputation Europe-wide for great service, regional industry knowledge and the strength of our network.”

FCm travel manager judged one of the best

Paul was among the finalists in the Avis Travel Agent's Scholarship of Excellence.

One of FCm’s travel managers in Australia has been judged as one of the best in the country for his customer service skills as part of the prestigious Avis Travel Agent’s Scholarship of Excellence.

FCm North Sydney travel manager Paul Mirabito this year was selected as a scholarship finalist. And although he didn’t win the award, Paul was judged as one of the top six travel agents in Australia after passing a rigorous review process.

Sponsored by Qantas and Southern Cross University, the Avis Travel Agent’s Scholarship receives wide support from across the industry. The award focuses on individual customer service and is open to all travel agents.
FCm’s general manager global product Joe McCormack said FCm this year put forward a number of excellent contenders for the highly coveted award.

“It was truly impressive to see all that Paul had achieved. As part of the process Paul was questioned and judged by a panel of senior executives from the Australian travel industry,” he said. “A few of the judges commented that the competition was very close this year and following the formalities I witnessed many of them approach Paul and congratulate him on the quality of his original submission, his overall professionalism and level of passion.

“It was excellent to see Paul recognized nationally for his customer service skills and also for FCm Travel Solutions to be acknowledged as a company that fosters the professional development of staff as part of its corporate culture.”

Mr McCormack said the eventual winner was a former retail employee from FCm’s parent company Flight Centre, while one of the other finalists was a former FCm staff member.
